About the Builder
South Carolina-Built Center Consoles for Fish and Family
Founded in 2011 by veteran boatbuilders Tommy Hancock and Dale Martin — names behind Sea Pro and Key West Boats — Sportsman Boats set out to build a true family-friendly center console. Every hull is built by skilled craftsmen in their hometown of Summerville, South Carolina, engineered to fish hard, ride dry, and keep the whole family comfortable all day.
Built in Summerville, South Carolina
Sportsman Boats was founded in 2011 by longtime friends and veteran boatbuilders Tommy Hancock and Dale Martin, who had previously built Sea Pro and Key West Boats. They started small — a handful of employees in leased space — with the goal that this “wouldn’t be just another boat company.” Today every Sportsman is built by skilled craftsmen in the company’s hometown of Summerville, South Carolina, and the brand has grown into one of the fastest-growing lines of family-friendly center consoles in its class.
A model for every kind of day on the water
The lineup is organized into four series. The Open series spans center consoles from the 212 up to the 402, pairing offshore fishing capability with all-day comfort. The Heritage series (231, 261, and 321) offers a more refined, family-forward take on the center console. For inshore and shallow water, the Masters series (227, 247, and 267) and the Tournament series deliver bay boats that get you where bigger boats can’t — without giving up the comforts you’d expect from a Sportsman.
Quality construction, backed by warranty
Sportsman builds every model to NMMA certification standards, which the company says ensures “the highest level of safety, quality and durability.” Each boat is designed around versatile layouts and amenities the whole family can enjoy, with a focus on a dry, safe, and comfortable ride. Ownership is backed by a 10-year limited structural hull warranty — transferable to a single subsequent owner — alongside a one-year (or first 200 hours) limited warranty on Sportsman-installed components.

FAQ
Common questions.
Is Valhalla Yacht Sales an authorized Sportsman dealer?
Yes. We are the authorized dealer for Sportsman, which means factory-trained salespeople, direct access to build slots, and warranty work handled in our own service centers rather than subcontracted out.
Which of your locations carry Sportsman?
New-boat availability varies by location: our New Jersey and Florida locations sell new boats across the lines we represent, while our North Carolina location sells new Viking Yachts and Valhalla Boatworks and is a Princess Yachts America dealer. Every location handles brokerage across all brands. Call ahead before driving — inventory moves, and what is on the floor this week may not be next.
Can I order a Sportsman built to my spec?
Yes. New builds are configure-to-order, which is why you will not see a fixed price on the model pages — layout, power, electronics and finish all move the number. Tell us how you plan to use the boat and a salesperson will spec it with you and confirm the current build slot.
Do you sell pre-owned Sportsman boats?
Yes. Our brokerage covers all brands, including pre-owned Sportsman hulls, and we list only clean, well-maintained vessels. If nothing suitable is showing today, tell a salesperson what you are after and they will flag it when it comes through.
Can you arrange financing on a Sportsman?
Yes. We work with marine-specialty lenders rather than acting as a captive financer, so you can bring your own bank if you prefer. On vessels above roughly $150k those lenders typically offer 15- to 20-year terms that a generalist bank will not match.
